SEPA Spanish Language School partners up with Mt. Hood Community College to give students college credits and the time of their life in beautiful Costa Rica!

It is week 4 here in Costa Rica, and I cannot believe the amazing opportunities I have had to explore the area thus far. Two weekends ago, my classmates from SEPA Spanish Language School and I went to the beautiful Eco-Lodge called La Cusinga. Yes, it was very hot; however, it was also one of the most amazing places I have ever been. The lodge is on the cliffs of the pacific coastline and is literally in the rainforest. My most memorable moment was watching the sunset on the coast the night before we left. I would definitely go back if I ever had the chance.
This last weekend, some classmates and I traveled to Dominical. Dominical is definitely centered on tourists. There are many tourist stands set up along the main road selling various trinkets and souvenirs. I was surprised to see a few American-owned restaurants as well. A local taco/burrito stand was owned by a guy from San Diego. A piece of advice to those who are in the area; speaking Spanish with the locals and getting to know them a little can help with the pricing of your food and souvenirs.
For lodging, we split a room at the wonderful Danyasa Eco-Retreat. I was absolutely impressed with this place. All the rooms are renovated storage units with air-conditioning and the most comfortable beds. I would recommend this place 100% to anyone traveling to Dominical.
In addition to the traveling, I am learning so much at SEPA school. My professor is funny, caring, and a wonderful teacher. She always makes sure that we understand everything before moving on to a new subject. During the week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, we start class at 9:30 am because a few of my classmates and I go to Zumba in the morning. On Tuesdays and Thursdays we start at 8 am.
After four hours of class, we are free to do what we want. Whether it is walking around San Isidro or going to the Polideportivo to play sports or run, I love being in Costa Rica.

I also love living with my Tican mom, Silvia. She is just like my mom at home. She cooks me food, we watch Spanish television together, and we go to family events. All in all, this is an unbelievable experience and I am so thankful to be here.”
